En 2010, dos cient\u00edficos de Reino Unido se hicieron acreedores al Premio Nobel por el descubrimiento de este innovador material.<\/p>\n<p>El grafeno posee propiedades sorprendentes, tiene una estructura muy resistente, sin embargo puede producirse en forma de finas l\u00e1minas, adem\u00e1s, por su naturaleza es flexible, tiene una asombrosa conductividad el\u00e9ctrica, inclusive superior a la del s\u00edlice y es transparente.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beneficios del grafeno para el medio ambiente<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El grafeno puede realizar grandes aportaciones a las energ\u00edas renovables, por ejemplo, al combinarse con la bien conocida tinta solar provoca que las placas solares fotovoltaicas sean mucho m\u00e1s ligeras, flexibles y econ\u00f3micas, ya que es capaz de almacenar energ\u00eda y mejorar la acci\u00f3n de dichas placas o paneles.<\/p>\n<p>En el sector de los coches el\u00e9ctricos, el grafeno es capaz de dar vida a bater\u00edas con una mayor capacidad de almacenamiento energ\u00e9tico y rapidez mediante periodos breves de carga y descarga.<\/p>\n<p>Con estas dos acciones, el medio ambiente se ver\u00eda muy beneficiado ya que los paneles solares sirven como conductores de energ\u00eda natural, lo que disminuir\u00eda en cierta medida, el empleo de la luz el\u00e9ctrica, ayudando tambi\u00e9n a las econom\u00edas familiares y con la proliferaci\u00f3n de los coches el\u00e9ctricos, disminuir\u00eda notablemente la contaminaci\u00f3n ambiental originada por hidrocarburos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>El grafeno y las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El grafeno se puede emplear en la industria de la sanidad, con sus propiedades antibacterianas es capaz de esterilizar los vendajes, envases y la ropa, dej\u00e1ndolos en el estado de higiene ideal para utilizar en los \u00e1mbitos hospitalarios. As\u00ed mismo, el \u00f3xido presente en el grafeno puede actuar directamente como un agente de ayuda para eliminar las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas.<\/p>\n<p>En el entorno de la limpieza, es posible aplicar el grafeno para eliminar los elementos t\u00f3xicos presentes tanto en los gases como en los l\u00edquidos, de igual forma, es muy eficaz para desalinizar el agua. Las l\u00e1minas de grafeno, al tener nanoporos son perfectas para reemplazar las membranas tradicionales de \u00f3smosis inversa y adem\u00e1s son m\u00e1s eficientes y representan un menor desgaste energ\u00e9tico.<\/p>\n<p>Su elevada conductividad y el hecho de que no desprende tanto calor frente el desplazamiento de los electrones por su superficie, se puede utilizar como procesador en celulares y computadoras port\u00e1tiles, favoreciendo la preservaci\u00f3n de los dispositivos inform\u00e1ticos y potenciando su eficacia.
