{"id":37296,"date":"2021-06-14T22:56:04","date_gmt":"2021-06-14T22:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utel.mx\/blog\/?p=37296"},"modified":"2023-03-10T17:13:03","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T17:13:03","slug":"brechas-de-genero-en-tiempos-de-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utel.mx\/blog\/vida-utel\/brechas-de-genero-en-tiempos-de-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Brechas de g\u00e9nero en tiempos de Covid-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Es sabido que a lo largo de las \u00faltimas dos d\u00e9cadas, la conversaci\u00f3n generada alrededor de las brechas de g\u00e9nero referentes a las diferencias salariales y de accesibilidad a empleos entre mujeres y hombres ha logrado reducirse poco a poco. Sin embargo, el a\u00f1o pasado, con el brote del Covid-19, la p\u00e9rdida de empleos ha vuelto a incrementar esta situaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Seg\u00fan el Banco Mundial (2018) en el mundo hay 3.827 millones de hombres y 3.764 millones de mujeres; que seg\u00fan los resultados, estad\u00edsticamente, son las mujeres quienes tienen un rendimiento acad\u00e9mico superior a los hombres. Pero, si bien en el periodo 2018 &#8211; 2019, el 55% de estudiantes universitarios eran mujeres, el campo laboral y la empleabilidad reflejaban lo contrario. (Garcia, 2019). \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 sucede esto? Bego\u00f1a Urien, maestra de la Universidad de Navarro explica que en la sociedad a\u00fan existen estereotipos que generan las brechas de g\u00e9nero, especialmente cuando se busca ocupar un puesto de trabajo.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">El rol social<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La teor\u00eda del rol social <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">afirma que todos, sin importar el g\u00e9nero, tomamos decisiones frente a las mujeres en el mercado laboral con base al papel tradicional que estas han desempe\u00f1ando en la sociedad: cuidar, ayudar, apoyar. Frente a esto, los hombres cumplen con roles que se perciben m\u00e1s aptos para el trabajo: tomar decisiones, ser en\u00e9rgicos o asertivos.\u201d (Urien 2019).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ahora bien, si con estos datos y estad\u00edsticas del 2018 podemos observar que ya exist\u00eda una brecha de g\u00e9nero evidente en cuanto a empleabilidad, queda claro que el Covid-19 la afect\u00f3 a\u00fan m\u00e1s. Seg\u00fan la <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comisi\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica para Am\u00e9rica Latina y el Caribe (Cepal) la participaci\u00f3n de las mujeres en el mercado laboral baj\u00f3 del 52 % al 46 %, debido a que los sectores en los que se empleaban fueron los m\u00e1s afectados por las restricciones sanitarias y el confinamiento durante los tres primeros trimestres del 2020 (El Economista, 2021).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00bfPorqu\u00e9 sucede esto?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Seg\u00fan el Observatorio Laboral Covid-19, del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, son tres las razones por las que las mujeres en el mercado laboral se han visto especialmente afectadas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Una de de las razones son las ya mencionadas restricciones sanitarias y el consecuente cierre de distintos sectores como lo son: el turismo, comercio, gastronom\u00eda y educaci\u00f3n, sectores que concentran la mayor cantidad de mujeres en el mercado laboral en pa\u00edses como Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia y M\u00e9xico.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">La segunda raz\u00f3n es que, al haberse suspendido toda actividad presencial en materia de educaci\u00f3n y cuidado pre-escolar, la carga de trabajo dentro de casas con presencia de ni\u00f1os ha aumentado. Este cuidado ha reca\u00eddo en la mayor\u00eda de los hogares, en las mujeres, quienes, incluso antes de la pandemia, ya eran responsables de las tareas \u2018dom\u00e9sticas\u2019 (38 horas semanales en comparaci\u00f3n a 16 horas de los hombres). Esta sobrecarga en el hogar, sin duda, afecta la decisi\u00f3n de participaci\u00f3n y movilidad laboral en las mujeres.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">En tercer lugar, el teletrabajo ha sido un factor bastante significativo en la falta de oportunidades laborales para mujeres. Existen dos razones por las que la accesibilidad al trabajo remoto impacta en las brechas de g\u00e9nero entre hombres y mujeres: El acceso y manejo de tecnolog\u00edas (TICs en general), y el tipo de tareas designadas en el trabajo, y ciertamente, previo a la pandemia ya se notaba una distinci\u00f3n significativa en el manejo de las tecnolog\u00edas.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Los estudios del Banco Mundial realizados en el 2020 en regiones de Am\u00e9rica y Europa, revelaron que el trabajo que las mujeres realizan en empresas tiende a ser m\u00e1s administrativo, facilitando entonces que sea posible adaptarse al teletrabajo (World Bank Group, 2020).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Ante esta problem\u00e1tica la innovaci\u00f3n de soluciones debe ser m\u00e1s que una propuesta. Azuara (2020) sugiere la creaci\u00f3n y aplicaci\u00f3n de tecnolog\u00edas m\u00e1s amigables y \u00fatiles para la incorporaci\u00f3n de mujeres con cargas de trabajo en casa, as\u00ed como equidad en las tareas asumidas por ambos sexos.
